If you are suffering from shin splints, turn to our team to get the solutions you need.
Here at York Foot Orthotics and Bracing, we work with patients who are experiencing a variety of symptoms in their feet and legs, and one of the most common issues that patients come to us with is shin splints. This term refers to pain along the large bone in the front of your lower leg, also called the shin bone, or the tibia.
The medical name for this condition is tibial stress syndrome, and it most commonly occurs in athletes, dancers, or military recruits, especially those who have recently changed or intensified their training regimens—the increased activity puts additional strain on the muscles, tendons, and bone tissue, hence the “stress” in the name. Other common contributors to shin splints are flat feet or high arches, but you can reduce your risk of developing this condition by wearing the proper footwear, regardless of how your feet are shaped.
If you want to reduce your risk of getting shin splints, you can turn to our team to get the custom orthotics you need to support your feet and lower legs. We offer custom insoles that will cushion your feet and correct any balance or alignment issues that might contribute to the stress on your tibia, and we can even offer options that absorb excess shock to further reduce the strain on your shins.
Our team is proud to serve the Aurora, Ontario community, and we want to help you alleviate any pain you are experiencing in your lower limbs. If you are suffering from shin splints, we encourage you to give us a call to find out how we can help you.
